My peonies are spectacular this year! They must adore this gloomy rainy weather!
Most years I do not cut my peonies to bring inside....I like to see them blooming outside. This morning however, I let my Prince talk me into clipping some and filling a vase for us to enjoy inside.
I absolutely love peonies, they are such a romantic flower!
I wish they bloomed all summer long!
Within seconds of bringing my beautiul bouquet into the house......I remembered the other reason why I don't cut them and bring them inside.....BUGS!!!
I hate BUGS!!!
Sure enough...ants came crawling out...then spiders and then some other unidentified crawly things...microscopic crawly things!
Eeeeeeww!
I was able to kill all but one huge big black ant who made a beeline to the bread box...I now have a rogue ant somewhere in my kitchen...I'll be looking for him all day!
I also have a very itchy scalp...that's what happens to me when I see bugs! LOL!
I am sooo not an outdoorsy girl!
But I am enjoying the beautiful aroma and sight of my gorgeous pink and white peonies!
Wishing you a Terrific Tuesday!

Your peonies are beautiful!! Be happy you didn't decide to wear one in your hair!!
Have a terrific week, Kathleen!

thanks for enduring the insect invasion to share this beautiful bouquet with us
Love the peonies, mine haven't bloomed yet, and I hate the bugs too. I feel itchy all over. You have a beautiful bouquet. Sandy
I believe I can smell their sweet scent just by looking at your beautiful photos.
Your aversion to the outdoors makes me laugh!
Wishing you a BEAUTIFUL day Kathleen!
Peonies actually need ants to bloom! The ants chew open the outer green shell so that the blooms can pop. If you wait until they are open to bring them inside, the ant problem is solved -- but the blooms don't last quite as long. It's a trade off, but I'm with you. Ants need to stay outside!!
I adore your sweet peonies, bugs or no bugs!! I could definitely live without ants and spiders! Your sweet Southern Belles are really doing it for me today!

Oh the bugs in the peonies. No matter how much you blow them off before you bring them in there are always the sneaky ones who dug in deep and hung on.
A couple of weekends ago we had a party at our house and someone made a boozy mango punch with fresh mango in it. I ended up with 5 ants in the house the next day. Cleaned out the punch and there haven't been any more even though I put out another fruit tray the next day. They must really like the mangoes.... or the rum.
Beautiful flowers! I can so relate to the aversion to ants and bugs!!!

Hi Kathleen, Your Peonies are beautiful. I don't have that deep color. I have plenty of them, but not enough ha! When you cut them , swish them in a bowl of water to get the bugs out. The scent and their beauty are worth it.Have a wonderful week! Sunny109
Beautiful peonies! Ugh I know what you mean about the bugs, yuck. I'm not outdoorsy either. But my husband is and I've promised to go camping with him this year...We will rent a fifth wheel travel trailer. But still...I enjoyed my visit to you blog. Hugs
